168 quilos. Estávamos no Outono de 2020 e foi este o peso que a Maria viu na balança. O julgamento e os olhares de condenação dos outros em relação ao seu corpo já faziam parte dos seus dias, reforçando a fatalidade da sua condição. Neste projecto acompanhámos a Maria nas semanas que se seguiram a uma cirurgia bariátrica, que lhe permitiu libertar-se do peso físico e emocional que carregava.
It was autumn 2020 and Maria weighed 168kg. The judgment and the gaze of others towards her body were part of her daily life, and seem to reinforce the fatality of her condition. In this project, we followed Maria in the weeks after a bariatric surgery that allowed her to free herself from the physical and emotional weight she carried.
